You can help to shape the future of ageing well in NSW

Older people across New South Wales are being invited to have their say as the NSW Government reviews its 10 year plan for ageing well.

The Ageing Well in NSW: Seniors Strategy 2021–2031 is now at its midpoint. This review is an important opportunity for older people to influence how the strategy is delivered over the next five years – and to help shape what comes next.

What does ageing well look like to you?

Ageing well means different things to different people. For some, it’s staying active and connected to community. For others, it’s having access to the right support and being able to live independently with dignity in age friendly environments.

Whatever it means to you, your voice matters.

Have your say

Your insights help ensure the strategy reflects what really matters such as staying independent, accessing the right services, feeling safe and remaining connected to community. You bring valuable lived experience about what is working well and where improvements are needed.

By speaking up you can:

  • Influence decisions about services, supports and communities
  • Help shape policies that respect dignity, independence and rights
  • Highlight real challenges like housing, health care and social connection
  • Ensure diverse voices and experiences are included

Put simply, no one understands ageing better than older people themselves. Your voice is essential to building a future where everyone can age well.

Your lived experience is valuable and is all you need to take part. Whether things are going well or you’ve faced challenges, your feedback will help build a clearer picture of what ageing in NSW is really like.

About the survey:

  • Quick and easy to complete
  • Takes around 5–10 minutes
  • Can be done online at a time that suits you
  • Responses are confidential

Our role

Seniors Rights Service is proud to be recognised as the largest Ageing Peak agency under the NSW Government’s ageing strategy. In this role, we work alongside other peak bodies and partners to advocate for the needs of older people across NSW.

A key part of our work is engaging with older people, communities and sector networks to understand emerging needs, challenges and opportunities. We also support older people to have a direct voice in shaping the policies and services that affect their lives.

Through our advocacy and engagement, we help facilitate the participation of older people in the codesign and delivery of services, contributing to policy reform and systemic change.

This survey is one of the ways we are supporting older people to share their experiences and priorities – ensuring their voices are heard and reflected in the future of the Ageing Well in NSW strategy.

We have long advocated for the rights of older people in NSW. As part of the original consultation for the strategy, we worked alongside older people and community stakeholders to help shape its direction.

Since then, we’ve seen how challenges such as COVID-19, housing stress, access to health care and services and social connection continue to impact older people. Through our work, we know there are systemic issues that still need to be addressed – and your input can help drive that change.

Your voice can help shape a better future for older people in NSW.
