Community consultations near you: the new aged care reforms explained

By 08/09/2025September 18th, 2025No Comments

Big changes are coming to aged care.

From 1 November 2025, a new Aged Care Act will come into effect.

This Act introduces important changes to how aged care in Australia is delivered – with a focus on the rights and needs of older people.

The reforms are significant and complex – and they may affect you or someone you care for.

To help people understand what’s changing, COTA Australia and the Older Persons Advocacy Network (OPAN) are hosting community consultations around Australia.

Register for the Sydney consultation on Monday 15 September 2pm – 4pm.

These sessions will provide an opportunity to:

  • Learn about the new Aged Care Act and what it means in practice
  • Understand what will change in the aged care system
  • Ask questions and receive clear information
  • Share your views and experiences to help guide the rollout

Older people must be at the heart of this change.

That’s why we’re encouraging older Australians their families and other supporters as well as interested community members to attend and be part of the discussion.

Join us in person at Wesley Conference Centre or online.
