One of the biggest NAIDOC events in the region, the Awabakal Newcastle NAIDOC March and Festival has drawn thousands of people in recent years. It starts with a flag-raising ceremony at Civic Park from 9am, followed by a march to Foreshore Park where the festival kicks off at 10am. Expect live music, traditional dance, food, stalls, rides and community spirit. A stage programme runs through the day with children’s performers alongside headline acts.
