Info Bingo on the South Coast

Seniors Rights Service recently hosted their inaugural “Info Bingo” day on the South Coast, which brought together over 60 community members for a fun day of games, information and presentations.

The day was opened by Emma Wood, Manager of Shoalcoast CLC. The audience then heard from Russell Westacott, CEO of Seniors Rights Service and Hon Dr Kay Patterson AO, Age Discrimination Commissioner. Both were very well received and stimulated lively discussion in the room.

The day’s focus revolved around supporting older people’s rights. Games and contests were devised which asked the participants to check their knowledge of and their preparedness to cope with any events or incident which may be impinging on their rights.

Take home bags were distributed which contained information about local providers that can help if they experience any form of abuse of their rights.

Both the audience and presenters enjoyed the day thoroughly. Particular praise was given to the skits and the games which were both entertaining and educational.

“We thank everyone who helped out on the day and in particular Shoalcoast Community Legal Centre in Nowra who co-hosted with Seniors Rights Service,” says Margaret Crothers, Seniors Rights Service advocate.

“We hope to do this event again in future. It was amazing to see how well it was received by the audience.”
