Make a difference in NSW by becoming a member of our board.
If you are passionate about human rights and supporting some of the most vulnerable older people in our society, this could be just the opportunity you have been looking for to make a difference. By joining us you can turn your life experience and professional knowledge into direct action. First Nations people and women are encouraged to apply.
Seniors Rights Service is calling for Expressions of Interest from anyone interested in joining our Board and assisting us to protect and advance the rights of older people, especially the vulnerable and those from disadvantaged groups.
Each year Seniors Rights Service looks for qualified members of the community, who seek to make a positive contribution to our organisation as members of our Board. We are at the forefront in the delivery of critical services on behalf of older people, including:
- Advocacy – our core role is in providing information and support to recipients of Commonwealth funded aged care services. This includes informing older people of their aged care rights, providing assistance in relation to aged care agreements, as well as representing the interests of older people in policy discussions with governments.
- Information – we are a trusted source of independent information on the rights of older people, promoting their right to make informed decisions, both big and small, affecting their lives. Older people are a diverse group from different cultural and linguistic backgrounds, and sexual orientations and we strive to support that diversity across New South Wales.
- Legal services – we provide advice to people in NSW aged 65 and over and to First Nations people aged 55 and over on matters such as:
• Consumer issues
• Human rights matters
• Retirement village matters
• Strata living and Boarding houses
