2020 was a difficult and challenging year, especially for our seniors. As we move ahead in 2021, we are pleased to say that Seniors Rights Service is stronger than ever, which is crucial if we are to properly serve the needs of the older people of NSW.
Our team has multiplied across the state. We have new regional advocates in Albury, Nowra, Wagga, Dubbo and Broken Hill. We also have two new advocates, two new solicitors and an Aboriginal liaison officer in our Sydney office. As a result of our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Employment Strategy, we now have five Aboriginal staff across legal and aged-care advocacy – up from one.
This year we have staff dedicated to advocating for seniors from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, with a special emphasis on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. Additionally, there will be a strong focus on financial and other abuse during the COVID-19 pandemic.
We are proud to introduce you to the latest dedicated and passionate members of our team.
