Working towards a future free of elder abuse is a year-round goal, but every year this objective is given special consideration during World Elder Abuse Awareness Day. On June 14, Seniors Rights Service is hosting “Lifting Up Voices”. This event aims to shed light on the abuse of older people and raise up the voices of the most vulnerable and marginalised who are at greater risk of abuse.
Keynote peakers: Hon Dr Kay Patterson AO, Age Discrimination Commissioner, Ms Wendy Morgan, Director, Gandangara Local Aboriginal Land Council and Hon John Sidoti MP, NSW Minister for Seniors and NSW Ministers for Multiculturalism. Other speakers include Russell Westacott, CEO, Seniors Rights Service and Superintendent Bradley Hodder, Commander, Botany Bay Area Command. These speakers will bring a diverse wealth of knowledge and experience from a variety of sectors, and will address key issues faced by older people at risk of or experiencing abuse.
